Our Military Style Fitness Classes are the first and only original Military Fitness Classes in the area. There are other similar companies that say they are but sometimes just take your money and you don't get the correct training and information so you don't achieve results.

Designed by former members of the Armed Forces with recognised fitness training qualifications and adapting functional training methods they will help to motivate and encourage you to get back into fitness!

What are the benefits of Military Fitness classes?

You’re outdoors

Outdoor exercise is proven to be better for you than the boring treadmill of the gym. A recent scientific survey* found that compared with exercising indoors, exercising in an outdoor natural environment was associated with:

You’re in a group

Military Fitness is all about getting fit together. While joining a group can seem daunting to some, from the moment that your instructor greets you at your free trial class, you’ll be made to feel part of the group and in a matter of minutes you’ll be drawing strength and having fun with your class mates as you crawl under, jump over, and run around them. We’re also a pretty friendly bunch, so you’ll get plenty of opportunities to get to know your fellow classmates after class. Military Fitness offers a highly sociable way to health and fitness.

You're instructor

Military Fitness Instructors don’t just stand in front of the class and demonstrate exercises that the class then repeats. Our instructors lead, explain, guide, and motivate you through each session. According to the needs of the group they will accelerate and decelerate the pace of the class, introduce exercise variations, and ensure that everyone pairs up or gets in the right group for team games and challenges. Using the landscape around them, they’ll take their classes around the ups and downs, ins and outs of the park and get the most out of the natural environment.

Why are Military Fitness classes so effective?

  • Variety - every session is different to the last. Working to the same high standards, every instructor has their own unique way of delivering a highly effective outdoor workout. Your mind and body will never be bored – in fact you’ll be consistently mentally stimulated and physically challenged.

  • Challenge – Military Fitness is a whole body workout which through team and individual exercises, circuits and games is designed to improve speed, agility, strength and stamina. Every aspect of the class is a challenge, but as you move so fast from one exercise to another, you won’t find your motivation dulled by repetition. You’ll be doing something new with someone new every time, building a sense of camaraderie within the group.

  • Quality – all our instructors are highly trained, experienced, and up to date with the latest fitness techniques and developments. Can’t promise that their sense of humour is up to quite the same standard, but they try their best!

  • Teamwork – you’ll experience an enjoyable, effective workout through team games, paired exercises, and group activities.

Your first class is absolutely FREE and there is no obligation to join. We don’t ask for anymore information than we need for you to have a safe, free training session with us.

Please fill out the online form to enroll for your free trial class. These details are required as part of our insurance and will not be made available to anyone else.

All you need to do then is to print it out, sign and date it, and bring it along to your local park.

If you prefer you can just download the form, fill it in by hand and bring it along to your free trial class. We do ask that when attending your free trial, you get to your chosen park at least ten minutes before the class is due to start to ensure that the instructor has the chance to welcome you, get your form, and the time to chat briefly about your current fitness level and training goals.

Monthly Fitness Assessment

Fitness Assessments are a series of exercises against the clock based on the Army Fitness Test, which we have adapted to suit our membership. It is voluntary, but is used as a way of monitoring your progress whilst training with Storm Leisure Military Fitness.

Assessments are held every month at each venue, normally in the last week of the month and will be confirmed by your class instructors.

The Assessment is a great workout in itself and consists of a series of basic exercises designed to test strength and stamina:

* A timed 1000 metre run (best effort)
* Maximum repetitions over a 2min period for each of: Sit ups, Press ups. Burpees and Tricep Dips.
